Is Ernest REALLY Running For Mayor?

March 13, 2024 - News

Is American country artist Ernest really running for mayor?

Some fans have been left scratching their heads over the singer’s latest social media posts, which find him beside the American flag and large text, writing: “ERNEST for MAYOR” and the statement “Legalize Country Music”.

If you go to his website, ernestformayor.com, you will be met with a countdown. At the time of writing, that’s down to one day, 15 hours, 25 minutes and 20 seconds.

In the top right corner, there’s a button that says Join The Campaign, which leads you to followERNS, a new “inclusive community with exclusive benefits” that you can sign up for here.

We believe that Ernest is playing the long game to promote a new single that will likely be called Legalize Country Music, with a video that hopefully spoofs real-life political figures.

In addition to the poster and website changes, Ernest shared a video for his (likely) mock campaign in which he said, “Nashville, the home of country music, families, bachelorette parties and me, Ernest. I love this town more than everything, and that’s why I’m running for ‘May-ern’.”

He continued, “Country music’s deep and vast repertoire is expanding and becoming more beautiful every day. But those at the top don’t want you to hear it. So, this April, I’m asking for your support as we fight to legalize country music. Together, we can all win.”

Stay tuned until the end of Ernest’s countdown to find out what he’s up to.

In 2022, Ernest launched his debut single to country radio, Flower Shops, featuring the one and only Morgan Wallen. Upon its release, it became the #1 most-added single of the week.

He then dropped the album Flower Shops (The Album), which showcased the more classically country side of his craft.

Last year, Ernest released the deluxe edition of Flower Shops (The Album): Two Dozen Roses, which arrived with 13 additional tracks and guest stars, including Jake Worthington and Dean Dillon
