Missy Lancaster Announces Shock Departure From Southbound XO

March 8, 2024 - News

Missy Lancaster, a singer-songwriter and one-third of Australian country act Southbound xo, is leaving the band to focus on her solo career.

Her last show with her bandmates, Sarah Bernardo and Andrea Krakovska, will be at Meatstock in Toowoomba, Queensland, this Sunday (10 March).

Lancaster made the surprise announcement on social media, writing that she planned to focus on her solo career and wished all the best for her bandmates.

She wrote on Instagram, “Hi all! I wanted to let you know I have decided to leave Southbound XO to pursue my solo career. It’s been an absolute hoot for the last few years & I wish the girls all the best for the future. I have been working like a mad woman and will have brand new music to share with you all very soon. Our last show will be this Sunday at Meatstock. Come and have a drink xx”.

The band also issued a statement on social media. Telling fans about Lancaster’s departure, their final performance with the current band line-up and revealing that they’re taking time “to explore ways to potentially re-boot the band in the future”, they wrote:

Hi everyone. We wanted to let you know that Missy recently decided to leave the band. As a result, our performance at @meatstock this weekend will be our last as the current band lineup. We don’t have any immediate plans to release new music. Instead, we are now taking time to explore ways to potentially re-boot the band in the future. For now, our existing Southbound xo releases live on, and we hope to see you rock out with us in Toowoomba on Sunday!

Lancaster already has an established solo career, with a successful album and EP under her belt.

In 2016, Lancaster released her debut EP, Missy, and her debut album, Piece Of Me, in 2018. The album charted at #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Artist Charts, #1 on iTunes Country Album Chart and #2 on the ARIA Country Chart. Her last single release was Wild in 2020.

Southbound xo released their latest single, John Doe, in October, following the June release of Boat.
