Post Malone Surprises Nashville Audience With Hank Williams Tribute Performance

April 6, 2024 - News

Post Malone surprised the audience at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium this week (3 April), helping close out the annual Million Dollar Show hosted by Bobby Bones.

Taking to the stage with an acoustic guitar, the rapper/singer impressed with Hank Williams’ 1952 hit, Honky Tonk Blues.

Displaying his love for country music and a new twang accompanying his signature rasp, he sang, “Well, I left my home down on the rural route/ I told my paw I’m going steppin’ out/ And get the honky-tonk blues”. You can watch video footage of his performance below.

Before Post Malone surprised the audience with his performance, the Million Dollar Show was packed with performances by Sam Hunt, Megan Moroney, Jon Pardi, Nate Smith, Lauren Watkins, and more, as well as Bobby Bones’ band, The Raging Idiots.

The performer’s latest venture into country music follows his recent collaboration with Beyoncé, Levii’s Jeans, from her country-inspired new album, Cowboy Carter.

Last year, Post Malone made his debut appearance at the CMA Awards, performing alongside Morgan Wallen and HARDY.

Post Malone also features on the HARDY track Pick-Up Man, a tribute to the late Joe Diffie. The track appears on the HARDY’s latest mixtape, Hixtape Vol. 3: Difftape, released last week.

In addition to his country appearances, Post Malone recently confirmed that he’s preparing to release a country album.

“Country record is coming,” the Chemical singer and rapper said in a Twitch livestream as fans asked him if he’d dip into country music. “I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it’s so fucking sick, but it’s not out.”

Revealing that he’s been in the studio working on two different albums – whether they’re both country-related is unsure – Post Malone continued, “We made such sick music down in Nashville. It was so much, so much fun.”

On his collaboration with HARDY, he added, “HARDY is amazing. He is such a sweetheart. I had the most fun time ever.”
