Randy Travis Set To Release His First New Music In Ten Years

May 2, 2024 - News

American country music star Randy Travis will release his first brand-new recording in over a decade tomorrow (Friday, 3 May), on the eve of his 65th birthday.

Where That Came From is Travis’s first brand-new studio recording since he survived a near-fatal stroke in 2013, which severely affected his ability to sing and talk.

Announcing his new music on Instagram, Travis shared a delightful video from the studio that saw him full of smiles. If you have the sound on, too, you’ll hear a teaser of the new song that showcases Travis’s signature warm, baritone vocal.

“It’s been a while since my last new recording, but I’m excited to share that this Friday, May 3, I will be releasing my first brand new studio recording in more than a decade, ‘Where That Came From’,” Travis wrote alongside the studio video.

He added, “You’ll hear much more about the special team of folks who came together to help make this magical moment in my career possible in the coming week.

“In the meantime, just know that when it comes to me singing songs for you, there’s always more where that came from. Thank you for singing along all these years.”

The announcement (and previous teaser video) has been met with excitement from the country music community, with artists such as The Zac Brown Band, Lainey Wilson, Cole Swindells, Carrie Underwood, Chase Matthew, Nate Smith, Cody Johnson, Drake Milligan, Alexandra Kay, and more voicing their support.

In 2019, his wife, Mary, told People Magazine that the stroke affected “the whole third midsection of Randy’s left brain… which is speaking, writing and reading.”

Travis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016 after releasing 21 albums.

Last August, Mary teased that Randy has an entire album of songs “ready to go”. When asked about the likelihood of the star releasing new music “From The Vault”, she answered, “The chances are 100%. It has already been mixed. Everything’s ready to go by Kyle Lehning, Randy’s producer…”

She added, “A whole other album of Randy Travis music” is on the way, per Music Mayhem Magazine.
