Netflix Reveals Multiple PGA & LIV Tour Golfers, Including Rory McIlroy & Bryson DeChambeau, & More Will Be A Part Of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Happy Gilmore 2

The casting director for Happy Gilmore 2 wasn’t messing around.

When it was announced that Adam Sandler would be reprising his role as everyone’s favorite hockey-player-turned-golfer, rumors started flying as to who could be included in the movie. It only makes sense that some modern day professionals would make cameos – or even play large roles – in the second installment, even though only one pro golfer (Lee Trevino) appeared in the first Happy Gilmore.

There have already been plenty of cameos confirmed for the film, including Travis KelceJohn Daly, Eminem, Jack Nicklaus, and sports radio host Dan Patrick – who has been known to drop in for small roles on Adam Sandler projects. It has also been rumored that Tiger Woods will be featured in the film, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Up until today, the only thing we knew about pro golfers potentially being in the sequel was a quote from the Sandman himself. In a previous interview, Sandler mentioned that they had “all these great golfers” come by to help out with the movie… and now we actually know who some of those great golfers are.

As you’ll see in the behind-the-scenes video below, it didn’t matter if golfers were from the PGA Tour or the LIV Tour. All were welcomed, which led to the likes of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Will Zalatoris, Tony Finau, Keagen Bradley and many others playing a role in the movie.

Above all else, it looked like all of the golfers were having the time of their lives making cameos in the comedy. World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler (and public enemy number one in the eyes of the Louisville Metro Police Department) can even be heard saying that being in the movie “brings back a lot of memories from the first one.” That’s gotta be a good sign for those that are skeptical that the sequel couldn’t possibly capture the same magic as the original 1996 movie, right?

And I don’t know why, but my favorite part of this little teaser was Adam Sandler’s line seemingly after they finished shooting their PGA-LIV-Happy-Gilmore crossover:

“That was good boys.”

Man… I can’t wait for this movie to come out.

All in all, it’s really cool to see all of the modern day pro golfers show up to help out with this second installment. Clearly the original Happy Gilmore meant a lot to them… and it probably doesn’t hurt that Netflix has already worked with many pro golfers in their Full Swing docu-series (the thing Ben Stiller mentions in the video above).

Speaking of Ben Stiller, he’ll be bringing back the the beloved, fan favorite character “Hal” – the guy who yells at senior citizens. Unfortunately, some of the other classic characters that meant so much to the original film will have to be honored rather than reprised.

Adam Sandler previously mentioned that the losses of Bob Barker (who played himself), Carl Weathers (who played Chubbs), and Joe Flaherty (who played the guy that yelled “jackass”) are considered irreplaceable, and he promised that all of those roles would be recognized in some way.

It’s clear that Sandler and everyone involved are working hard to make sure this second installment not only adds to the Gilmore-McGavin universe, but also honors the 90’s classic.
