He served 17 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, including time with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions as a staff sergeant and fire support specialist. In July 2023, Morgan surprised fans at the Grand Ole Opry by reenlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve during a live performance.
