Hey… I’d attend the Super Bowl too if I was the President of the United States.
Why not, right? Seems to me like one of the perks of being POTUS would be pointing your finger at a sporting event or concert and saying, “I would like to go to that. Let’s go to that.” Considering how Donald Trump typically operates, I’d guess that’s exactly how this all went down.
According to a White House official, President Donald Trump will attend Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this upcoming Sunday. He’ll be the first ever sitting U.S. President (I’m sure he’ll stand a little bit while he’s there too) to attend the “Big Game,” and Trump will have quite the contest to watch. The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to three-peat as Super Bowl Champs, while the Philadelphia Eagles are out for revenge as they lost to the Chiefs two years ago in the same game.
That sitting and standing joke didn’t land too well, did it?
Anyways, that means that security will undoubtedly be beefed up in and around the Caesars Superdome. Authorities were already going to be on high alert because of the terrorist attack that took place in New Orleans on New Year’s Day ahead of this year’s Sugar Bowl. Plus, there will always just be more precautions taken when it comes to the Super Bowl.
That being said, Trump’s attendance should help to make the already incredible matchup that much more intriguing. Even Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have voiced their excitement in regards to the President of the United States taking time out of his busy schedule to be there for the NFL’s biggest game of the year.
The Chiefs tight end (and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend) was asked by the media how he felt about Trump’s plan to be at the Caesars Superdome, and he explained that, politics aside, it’s an honor to play in front of the sitting president:
“It’s a great honor. I think, no matter who the president is, I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life. Having the president there… it’s the best country in the world, so pretty cool.”
“That’s awesome, it’s a great honor no matter who the president is.”

As for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he too is looking forward to playing in front of the POTUS, and was humbled to find out that Donald Trump is a fan of his:
“It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president. Someone that’s in the top position in our country. I didn’t see that clip, but obviously it’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play.”

Very professional answer there by Mahomes.
And what clip is the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback talking about, you might be asking? Reporters at the White House asked Donald Trump about the Super Bowl, and who he thinks will win. The president kept his answer vague, but it sure seemed like he’ll be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and their quarterback who he described as a “pretty good winner.”
