Chris Stapleton Blows The Roof Off ‘Austin City Limits’ With Performances Of “South Dakota” & “It Takes A Woman”

Letting it RIP on Austin City Limits.

Today, the long-running show shared a couple performances from Chris Stapleton’s episode, which is slated to air this Saturday on PBS.

He sang two songs from his 2024 fifth studio album Higher, which was produced by Dave Cobb, Stapleton and his wife Morgane, who also appeared alongside him singing background vocals… crushing it per usual.

From a high-powered rendition of “South Dakota” and a beautifully heartwarming performance of “It Takes A Woman,” Chris sounds absolutely incredible and really brought it for their special 50th Anniversary season. Of course, back on October 17th, 1974, Willie Nelson helped ACL, headlining the very first episode. The PBS station KLRN in San Antonio and Austin, Texas, produced the pilot episode of the incredible, long-standing variety show and music program, and the rest is history.

There have been so many legendary performances on ACL over the years, and it’s one of the few musical variety shows left that brings in such a wide variety of high-quality artists every season, and allows them to display their unique and impressive talents to the world.

It’s such a well-done, really amazing program, and there’s a reason it’s been running for 50 seasons now when so many other similar shows have ultimately failed. ACL airs weekly on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings) and full episodes are made available to stream online at immediately following the initial broadcast.

Other artists who have been part of this special season include Kacey Musgraves, Gary Clark Jr., and The War And Treaty, and The Avett Brothers, Sturgill Simpson as Johnny Blue Skies, and Willie and his Family Band are still to come on the second half of the season.

While all of them are obviously incredibly talented artists, it’s always hard to follow Mr. Stapleton… check ’em out:
