Cody Jinks Tells Fans His Next Studio Record Is “Basically Done”

Cody Jinks fans, listen up.

Rounding out 2024, Cody Jinks dropped his stellar Lefty Frizzell tribute record, Cody Jinks Sings Lefty Frizzell, which highlights some of the hidden gems and hits from Frizzell’s catalog. Jinks also surprised fans by recently teaming up with the guitarist from Lamb Of God, Mark Morton, for a country meets metal single, “Brother.”

Cody Jinks fans have not been deprived of new music by any means, nor will they have to wait too long for more of it. In this social media video, Jink shared that he’s “basically done” with his next studio record and that it will be dropping this year.

The Texas native has some exciting news he stealthily slipped into a video that would not seem like a new music update. Posted on his social media pages, Cody Jinks is posted in a camp chair next to a fire, and he shares that new music is on the way:

“Oh hey, didn’t see you there. Jinks here. Sneaky edition.

Just wanted to let you guys know that on this Monday, February 10th… almost all of the music is in the can for what will be our upcoming record, to be released later this year.

We’re basically done…recording this record. So we begin the mixing and mastering process, the artwork, all the things that take months and months to do. We wanted to let you know.

It’s going to be badass. I’m just gonna say it, I’m just gonna say it right there. It’s badass. Over and out.”

Can I get a hell yeah?

Cody Jinks released his last studio record, Change The Game, last year, proving again that he’s one of the premiere artists in the independent country music scene.

I am counting this as his last studio record, given that it was new material, but if you want to be technical, he did release Backside of 30, which revisits his 2012 record, 30. Jinks told MusicRow Magazine that the record was a monumental moment in his writing, and he felt it was time to remaster it.

“I really love the 30 album, I feel like it was a big step up for me in my writing and it was time to remaster, add a new one, and re-release.”

Now, back to talking about his last full-length release, Change The Game. Jinks is creatively brilliant and talented, doing everything entirely independently. His story proves to other aspiring independent artists that hard work and great music are all you need to succeed in this business.

Given what Jinks threw down with Change The Game, and how he spoke about what’s in store for this forthcoming project, I’m absolutely stoked. Cody Jinks is a music-making machine, consistently one of the best int he business. I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

While you’re here, fire up one of my favorites Jinks laid down on his Lefty Frizzell tribute record.
