A month after Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, Australian singer Firerose, the American hitmaker has filed for a temporary restraining order against her.
People reports that Cyrus filed an emergency motion in a Tennessee court on Thursday (13 June), seeking a temporary restraining order against Firerose to keep her from “unauthorised” access to his personal and business credit card accounts.
Cyrus alleges that in recent weeks, Firerose has spent $96,986 on 37 unauthorised charges on his business account, including $70,665 in payments to her attorneys. Cyrus claims that the unauthorised charges began on 23 May, the day after he filed for divorce against Firerose.
In an affidavit, the Achy Breaky Heart singer stated, “As a result of these fraudulent charges… I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized [sic] charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts.”
Firerose’s attorneys wrote in response, “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue.
“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”
Cyrus filed for divorce against Firerose last month, citing “inappropriate marital conduct” and “irreconcilable differences” as the reasons for divorce. He is also seeking an annulment on the marriage, which took place in October 2023, on the grounds of fraud.
Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose got engaged in 2022, although the date of their engagement is unclear.
The former couple sent the internet into a frenzy on 13 September 2022 when Firerose posted to Instagram with the caption “taking in the moment…” and wearing what looked like an engagement ring.
However, in October 2022, she shared another post with Cyrus, showing off a giant diamond ring. No “we’re engaged” was written—the post was captioned “Happy Autumn.”
