Aussie rock and country legend Andrew Farriss has returned to his rightful place in the spotlight, today (June 21) gracing us with a rip-roaring new single called Something Stronger – and wouldn’t ya know it, Countrytown is exclusively premiering its accompanying music video!

In a statement, Farriss said of his anthemic new tune, “I wanted to record a song about grit and passion.” The effort paid off in spades – Something Stronger soars with belting electric guitars, thrashing drums and the former INXS icon’s own soulful and commanding vocal all coalescing into beautifully dirty, energised barnstormer.

Pointing to one of the song’s key lyrics – “We drank cheap whisky, burnin’ down our teenage throats / A fire on the end of a hand-rolled smoke” – Farriss spoke more about the story behind Something Stronger: “These words capture the raw energy and recklessness of youth for many past and present – the deep yearning for something more intense… Something stronger.”

The accompanying music video reflect that nostalgic flair, with shots of “fast cars, open roads, burning embers, a welcome home and raised glasses” (in Farriss’ own words) all weaved around a jam from him and his band captured live at Moonshiners in Tamworth (undoubtably Australia’s best country bar). Take a look at the clip below:

Something Stronger arrives as our first preview of Farriss’ second full-length solo effort, The Prospector, primed for release in early 2025 via Rockingham Recordings. The storied artist teased of the follow-up to his eponymous 2021 debut: “The songs on The Prospector are about searching for the gold in life – reaching out for something higher. It’s about digging deep inside, and encouraging others to look for the real treasures in life.”

Just when you think the hype train couldn’t go any faster, Farriss also confirmed he has tour news coming right around the corner. “Get ready to buckle up for an exhilarating ride,” he said, “as we hit the road and ignite the stage.”
