Lainey Wilson Announces New Album 'Whirlwind'

May 10, 2024 - News

After the mammoth success of her fourth album, Bell Bottom Country, Lainey Wilson has announced that her fifth album, Whirlwind, will be released later this year.

Bell Bottom Country, released in late October 2022, saw Wilson take over country music, winning Best Country Album at the Grammys, Album of the Year at the ACM Awards, and Album of the Year at the CMA Awards. The 16-track album saw her peak at #35 in Australia, #9 on the US Top Country Albums Chart, and #2 on the UK Country Albums Chart.

In addition to the accolades crowned on the album, Wilson was crowned Entertainer of the Year at the recent CMA Awards, made her way to Australia for the first time (to great success), and is the current cover star on Billboard’s Country Power Players series.

On Whirlwind, Wilson aims to make sense of the success of the last few years with Grammy award-winning producer Jay Joyce.

“I am so excited to finally announce Whirlwind. This album has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait for the world to have this body of work in their hands soon,” Wilson commented in a press release.

“This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal piece of art I’ve ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”

Wilson added in an Instagram post, “Whirlwind.

“That’s what my life has been the last couple years. I hope this record brings peace to your ‘whirlwind’ and wraps its arms around you like it did me when I was writing and recording it.”

Whirlwind will be released via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville on Friday, 23 August. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here, with Wilson’s Wild Horses members gaining first access to purchase a limited edition, signed black and white Whirlwind vinyl.

Last week, Wilson teamed up with Keith Urban on the new track, Go Home W U. She said about working with the Aussie star, “Keith has been someone in the industry I’ve taken notes from for a while now. From watching him at CMA Fest every year growing up to hearing the way he treats people up and down music row, he has taught me a lot.

“He’s a genuine supporter of mine and I am honoured I get to continue to learn from one of the best. Getting to do a song with Keith is a notch on my belt I am very proud of.”
